The Privy Council Office is the hub of non-partisan, public service support to the Prime Minister and Cabinet and its decision-making structures. The following project explores the many stakeholders, processes and influences that make up the systemic landscape the PCO resides in.

Iterative Process of Inquiry Map: An iterative process of inquiry map is first used to understand the PCO from a micro level, asking what the functions, structure, processes and purpose is up to a macro level. This exercise is used to develop critical questions to further explore in the following systems maps.

Stakeholder Map: Once a general understanding of how the PCO works, the next step is to understand who the stakeholder subgroups are in this system and where they exist in proximity to each other and to the ability to influence decision making which is at the center of the map.

Process Map: A process flow map is used to track the journey of research done by PCO through the many stakeholder groups and which stakeholders act as contact points for that research.

Influence Map: An influence map is used to better understand which of the stakeholders have the power to influence how research is done and circulated. The different types of influence include elections, appointments, distribution and the ability to hire.
